UFC contender Ian Machado Garry has said he is no longer allowed to train at Leon Edwards’s gym, after the welterweight champion and his coach expressed concern over “doubts and insecurities” at Team Renegade egame
The unbeaten Machado Garry has trained at various gyms in numerous countries in recent months, but told The Independent that he will not be able to return to Renegade, at the request of Edwards and his coach Dave Lovell egame
The Irishman did, however, stress his appreciation of Ash Begg and Tom Breese, who run Team Renegade egame
“Gym conflict has absolutely been a massive issue recently,” said Machado Garry, who turns 26 in November and faces teammate Vicente Luque in December egame
“Leon Edwards, his head coach asked me not to come back to Renegade; told me I’m not allowed to train there egame
“I have to word this correctly, because I don’t wanna be… Firstly, I wanna put out there that Ash and Tom, who run Renegade… I don’t wanna give any negatives without saying a positive egame
I don’t want any s*** with any gyms egame
The guys at Renegade… it was a great energy egame
Tom and Ash were very welcoming, lovely and nice to me egame
It was nothing to do with them egame
“Leon and his head coach had an issue with me training on the mats and recently have asked me not to train there, because, ‘Leon doesn’t want any insecurities or doubts on his own mats, within the gym,’ which I don’t fully understand egame
“I get that we’re both in the top 10 and you might see me as a threat, but I’m not a threat to you right now; I’m not fighting for the title right now egame
His coach said the words: ‘Ian is a threat, I cannot have Leon having any doubts or insecurities egame
’“That makes me think someone is weak minded and can’t have another contender training on the mat egame
That’s why gym conflict is annoying egame
For me, why not have that other elite guy on the mat? Why not train with him? Why not have him push you? Why not learn and grow from each other?Machado Garry during his dominant win over Neil Magny in August (Getty Images)“It’s very irritating, because I’m a young fighter who wants to be the best in the world, who wants to train with the best in the world, and Renegade is the best gym in the UK egame
I went there to learn from the guys around Birmingham and who have essentially proven that it’s the best gym in the UK; I didn’t go there to train with Leon, I went there to train with that gym, because they’re amazing egame
“Now I’m being stopped from going to a gym, because I might potentially fight Leon in 18 months egame
My attitude is: If that’s the case, why not have this conversation in six months? “I love the guys at Renegade egame
They’re really nice and welcoming, I rang them beforehand to make sure everything was good egame
Then, after the second day I was there, they were like: ‘Oh, we can’t have you back, Leon and some of his team don’t want this egame
’ “So, when we talk about conflict, that’s it egame
There’s a piece for you to write, for sure!”The Independent has contacted Edwards, Lovell and Team Renegade for comment egame
Machado Garry last fought in August, beating Neil Magny via unanimous decision egame
The “Future” is next in action at UFC 296 in December, facing teammate Luque egame
Meanwhile, Edwards last fought in March, outpointing Kamaru Usman to retain the welterweight title that he took from his old rival with a head-kick knockout last August egame
The Birmingham fighter, 32, is due to headline UFC 296, defending his belt against former interim champion Colby Covington egame
Watch UFC 296 live on TNT egame Sports in the UK and Ireland, on Saturday 16 December egame

Tyson Fury has likened Francis Ngannou’s chances in their fight to those of a “table-egame tennis champion” playing Novak Djokovic in the Wimbledon final egame
WBC heavyweight champion Fury will box Ngannou, an ex-UFC title holder, in Saudi Arabia on Saturday night (28 October) egame
While the Briton’s belt will not be on the line in Riyadh, the bout is a professional contest whose result is expected to count on each man’s egame boxing record – which is 0-0 in the case of mixed martial artist Ngannou egame
At Friday’s weigh-in, Fury tipped the scales at 277 egame
7lbs, while Ngannou came in at 272 egame
1lbs egame
Both men were clothed, however egame
After the weigh-in, 35-year-old Fury said of his Cameroonian opponent: “I think he’s a big, fat sausage, and I’ll knock him spark out egame
We don’t get paid for long, we get paid for short, and I’m gonna make it nice and short for him egame
“[Ngannou offers] absolutely nothing egame
It’s like a egame tennis-table champion facing Djokovic in a Wimbledon final egame
egame Boxing isn’t about two men brawling; it’s a gentleman’s sport, it’s a sweet science, it’s whoever’s got the most ability to set up a knockout punch egame
”Djokovic is a 24-time grand slam winner in egame tennis, making him the most successful men’s player in the history of the sport egame
Meanwhile, Margaret Court shares his record on the women’s side of the game egame
After Fury fights Ngannou, 37, in Riyadh, he is contracted to fight unified egame boxing champion Oleksandr Usyk egame
However, Fury refused to discuss that bout with his fellow unbeaten boxer egame
“We’re not talking about any other p***k in this world,” he said egame
“We’re talking about Francis Ngannou tomorrow night egame
I’m gonna knock a motherf***** out, then I’m gonna take a week off egame
I don’t wanna hear from any of you guys about egame boxing egame
Let me have time with my family, then I’ll come and take out the little guy egame
”After the weigh-in host apologised to viewers for the Briton’s language, Fury said: “I need to apologise egame
If there’s anybody out there who don’t like my language, get the f*** out that door!”Fury said earlier this week that he was “not happy” with the reveal of his fight with Usyk, which was announced in September egame
